Host An Event
You can do a really good thing at your next event.
There are so many ways you can help Second Harvest at your next event. Whether it’s a benefit concert, run/walk, bake sale, beer tasting, birthday party … any way you can help our neighbors in need is greatly appreciated!
The funds raised from Community Partnership Events help feed people in Middle and West Tennessee, where 1 in 8 people are at risk of hunger.
In turn, we support our community event partners with varying levels of publicity and manpower.
Unfortunately we don’t have the resources to partner with everyone. If you’re interested in planning a Community Partnership Event to benefit Second Harvest, you must read our guidelines and then submit this application form. We’ll contact you within five working days to discuss your proposed event. We’re eager to get your proposal!
Public Events
What is it?
You sell tickets to the general public and Second Harvest is listed as the beneficiary.
Examples: walk/run, concert, food and beverage tastings
One of our favorites: In 2015, ag industry groups partnered to create the biannual Shooting Hunger sporting clays fundraiser. Over 850,000 meals have resulted from the teamwork of Tennessee Farmers’ Cooperative – East, Middle and West; the Tennessee Farm Bureau Family; and Farm Credit Mid-America.
Group Events
What is it?
Your company or organization hosts a private event where contributions are taken to benefit Second Harvest.
Examples: fundraising competition, class or family reunion, bake sale, baby or wedding shower
One of our favorites: Nashville law firm Cornelius & Collins hosts Uniquely Nashville, an annual happy hour that gives their employees and clients a chance to relax and catch up. By collecting donations at the event, the firm has raised more than $15,000 to fight hunger.
Individual Events
What is it?
Individual events are often centered around personal life events and inspire giving among your family and friends.
Examples: birthdays, block parties, weddings, potlucks
One of our favorites: Bill and Lisa Ramsey host a fun block party every June called Ode to Otha. The ticket includes live music, kid-friendly activities, and food galore. Last year between ticket sales, T-shirt sales, and donations, the Ramseys raised more than $16,000.
