This state-of-the-art food preparation facility is used for food safety education, culinary demonstrations and classes, and catering for Second Harvest’s Partner Agencies, supporters and clients. It’s also home to our Culinary Arts programs, which include First Harvest Café lunches each Wednesday and Friday, and Catering Services.

First Harvest Café

Executive Chef Mark Rubin prepares a buffet meal every Wednesday and Friday at our First Harvest Café, located in the Culinary Arts Center at Second Harvest. You can enjoy an express lunch every Wednesday for $8 or an all-you-can-enjoy themed lunch buffet every Friday for $12. Wednesday and Friday lunches are open to the public from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  You can find menu listings on our event calendar or follow us on Twitter and Facebook. If you are interested in receiving an email on Tuesdays with the weekly menu, please contact us to opt-in to the First Harvest Café email distribution. You can enjoy your lunch knowing you are supporting our mission to feed hungry people and solve hunger issues in the greater Nashville community.

Second Harvest Catering Services

Second Harvest's Culinary Arts Center can cater your next event! Our experienced chefs offer extensive fresh and flavorful breakfast, lunch and dinner menus, or collaborate with our chefs to create a custom menu for your event.  View our Catering Guide for menus and pricing. Second Harvest Facility Rental

Second Harvest offers the ideal environment for meetings and events throughout the year. Our facility and catering services are meant to better serve our community and donors by providing rental space and catering. Proceeds from our facility and catering services provide funding for the programs and services of Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee. With several meeting rooms and layouts available, our facility can accommodate groups less than 10 or up to 200. Cooks Rule! Cooking Camp

Our Cooks Rule! Cooking Camp registration is currently open! A Cooks Rule! Cooking Campis a unique opportunity to get hands-on training in a state-of-the-art commercial kitchen under the guidance of professional chefs. Campers will experience true aspects of life in a commercial kitchen, from safe food handling practices to knife skills to equipment use and from menu planning to execution to creative presentation. In session 1, designed for youth ages 9-12, campers will cook a nourishing lunch for themselves, Monday through Friday. In sessions 2, 3 and 4, designed for teens 13-18, campers will bring home a complete meal for four, Monday through Thursday, and on Friday, campers will prepare and serve lunch at our First Harvest Café with their parents invited as guests.

Cooking Classes

Periodically, the Culinary Arts Center hosts adult cooking classes. Classes teach knife skills as well as a variety of the following techniques, roasting, pan-searing, sauce making, meringue making, sautéing, caramelizing, blanching, poaching and oven baking. At the end of the class, participants will take home their complete cooked dinner for four.
