Skip Lunch, Feed a Bunch

Eat in. Give back. Do good.

Did you know that 1 in 6 Tennesseans doesn’t know where their next lunch will come from? But every $1 donated to Second Harvest provides 4 meals to those in need. During the month of April, we encourage you to skip dining out for lunch and donate the money you would have spent to help feed hungry children, families and seniors in Middle Tennessee.

You can join the fight against hunger by making a donation or starting a fundraising team. By bringing family, friends, and colleagues together to donate their lunch money, you can make a real impact on hunger!

Get started today, the process is simple:
1. Decide if you want to raise funds as an individual, group or with your company.
2. Customize your personal page with your story about why you want to join the fight against hunger.
3. Share your campaign with your friends and family.
Then watch your progress and count the meals you've raised!

You can be creative with how you ask others to get involved. Below are some fun and unique ways to Skip Lunch, Feed A Bunch and get others excited to participate!

Invite friends over for a cookout: Offer your friends a free meal at your house. Ask them to donate the money they would have spent on dining out to Second Harvest.

Get your co-workers involved: Divide employees by department, floor, or building. Encourage the groups to compete with each other to see who can raise the most donations. Arrange a lunchtime pizza party "on the company" for the highest contributors!

Ask your company to participate: Have your organization match the donations raised.

Share Your Way: We want to see how you are running the best fundraiser ever! Share the ways you’ve “skipped” on Facebook and Twitter at #skiplunchTN with your story and photos.

An easy way to get involved is by attending our annual Eat Lunch, Feed a Bunch cookout! Join us Thursday, April 25th for a picnic lunch sponsored by AEGIS that works to feed hungry people through donations. A donation of $5, the equivalent to 20 meals, is suggested.

We can all do our part. As you hand over $5 for a coffee or $10 for a salad, think about how that money can be used to feed a family. Think of something you love to do and involve your friends and family in your Skip Lunch activity. Pool your resources and remember that every $1 you donate provides 4 meals for children, families and seniors in Middle and West Tennessee!
