Andreas Ritchie: “I know that I made a difference”

If Andreas is in the warehouse, you know it.

It doesn’t matter if he’s sorting food, filling BackPacks, or packing Emergency Food Boxes, Andreas’ joyful personality and enthusiasm for our mission are hard to miss.

After donating financially for years, Andreas came to our Nashville distribution center for an event.

Seeing our operations up close, inspired him to roll up his sleeves and start donating his time as well.

Since his first volunteer shift in July 2018, Andreas has logged more than 275 hours of service!

“Every time I volunteer, I feel very satisfied, because I know that I made a difference in a lot of people’s lives,” Andreas said.

“I have a lot of respect and admiration for the Volunteer Engagement Team that makes contributing to the cause so much fun with their positive attitude towards their mission,” Andreas said.

ABOVE AND BEYOND

You can see a passion for our mission in all of our regular volunteers, but Andreas’ enthusiasm stretches far beyond the walls of our warehouse.

This past February, he took our mission to work and asked his coworkers to Spread the Love and donate peanut butter—one of our most needed items. Together, they donated 414 pounds of peanut butter in just one month!

Whether it’s donating food, time, or funds, Andreas is ready to help in whatever way he can, and our volunteer team is grateful for his dedication.

“He is a fierce advocate for the work we do and a lovely person to work alongside,” Corrine Easley, Volunteer Engagement Coordinator, said.

“We are lucky to have someone who so fully invests in our mission and the fight against hunger.”
