First Tennessee donates time and resources in honor of Hunger Action Month.
An empty plate equals an empty stomach, and no one can reach their full potential if they’re running on empty.
First Tennessee wants to make sure that no family, child, or senior in our community has to run on empty, so they’ve partnered with us to celebrate Hunger Action Month.
September is Hunger Action Month, a time when food banks across the country come together to bring awareness to food insecurity and urge their communities to take action in the fight against hunger.
Earlier this month, First Tennessee took action to end hunger by sorting frozen food from our grocery rescue program. They sorted over 5,500 pounds of food, which will provide over 4,500 meals to those struggling with hunger.
In addition to volunteering, First Tennessee has taken action by hosting multiple Mobile Pantries over the years.
Mobile Pantries are large-scale one day distributions that bring nutritious food straight to individuals and families in need. A typical Mobile Pantry provides one to two weeks of groceries to approximately 250 families, distributing more than 20,000 pounds.
When you combine all of their hunger-fighting efforts, First Tennessee has provided more than 840,000 meals to those facing hunger in Middle and West Tennessee!
