Group Volunteering

What to know before your group volunteer shift.

Scheduling and Availability

Second Harvest is closed on Sundays, major holidays, and on Saturdays of major holiday weekends. Please note that registering at least one week prior for a weekday shift and six weeks prior for a Saturday shift is recommended. Group volunteer opportunities are offered at the following locations and times listed below.

Martin Distribution Center

GROUP FOOD SORTING (ages 12+)

  • Morning: Tuesday – Saturday, 9:00am - 11:30am
  • Afternoon: Tuesday – Saturday, 1:30pm - 4:00pm
  • Evening: Tuesday – Thursday, 5:30pm - 8:00pm

FAMILY NIGHT (ages 6+)

  • Evening: Thursday, 5:30pm - 8:00pm

Nacarato Distribution Center

GROUP FOOD SORTING (ages 12+)

Available last two weeks of each month. First week no Friday shifts & second week no Saturday shifts available.

  • Morning: Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, 9:00am - 11:30am
  • Afternoon: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, 1:30pm - 4:00pm
  • Evening: Thursday, 5:30pm - 8:00pm

Ray Smith Family Distribution Center

GROUP FOOD SORTING (ages 12+)

  • Morning: Thursday, 1st, 3rd, and 5th Friday, and the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month, 9:00am - 11:30am
  • Afternoon: Available by appointment only
  • Evening: Tuesday and Thursday, 5:30pm -8:00pm

Request a Group Volunteer Shift!

All group leaders must fill out the form to request a group volunteer shift. Thank you for your interest in Second Harvest!

PLEASE NOTE: Due to increased volume, please allow 3 to 4 business days for a response from our team. Your patience is appreciated.

The warehouse can accommodate up to 100 people. We rely on accurate group counts to plan food packing projects. Your best estimated head count is greatly appreciated. Our youth volunteer safety ratio is one adult per every seven volunteers under age 18. Please make sure you have enough adult chaperones when scheduling a youth group.
