Hunger Free Summer Campaign

The Hunger Free Summer campaign has begun. Will you be the reason summer break doesn’t mean an empty plate?

When school cafeterias close for the summer, children lose access to the free and reduced-price meals they count on during the school year. Now, families shoulder the burden of providing an extra 10 meals per child every week.

Closing that gap can feel impossible.

In Middle and West Tennessee, more than 108,000 children struggle with hunger. This year, they face even greater challenges.

Tennessee is not participating in the full federal Summer EBT program. Summer EBT previously helped families buy groceries when school was out. This leaves most children in our service area without access to support.

This makes Second Harvest’s Hunger Free Summer campaign more important than ever.

This annual effort provides summer meals for kids. No child should go hungry because school is out.

Alongside our network of more than 600 Partner Agencies, we’re working to fight child hunger this summer. We can’t do it without your help.

You can make a difference:

  • Donate: Every $1 provides 4 meals.
  • Volunteer your time at a food distribution.

No child should ever have to worry about their next meal. Together, we can make this a Hunger Free Summer.
