Try This Heart-Healthy Roasted Potato Recipe  

Most people think you can’t eat the foods you love and have a healthy heart. Second Harvest is here to tell you that isn’t true!

You may think you should focus only on foods like leafy greens to promote heart health. We know those can be expensive and aren’t to everyone’s taste.   

That’s ok, though. There are other heart-friendly foods—like potatoes!  

Potatoes often get a bad reputation. Although, that reputation comes from the way they’re prepared. On their own, potatoes are nutrient-dense and heart-healthy.  

Potatoes are naturally fat-free, cholesterol-free, and high in potassium and fiber. Those are the ingredients we need to help regulate blood pressure.   

Who knew potatoes could keep our heart happy?   

Better yet, potatoes are affordable, widely available, and staple in many cultures’ cuisines. At Second Harvest, we always include potatoes in our food distributions. 

There are few things as nutritious, filling, and delicious.   

Try This Heart-Healthy Roasted Potato Recipe  

Looking for a simple and healthy way to enjoy potatoes? Our nutrition team packed this oven-roasted potato recipe with flavor. We even added olive oil to make sure things taste great while still supporting heart health. 

Ingredients: 

4 large potatoes, diced 

3 tablespoons olive oil 

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder 

1/2 teaspoon onion powder 

1/4 teaspoon paprika 

Salt and pepper to taste 

Directions: 

Preheat oven to 400°F

Add all ingredients to a large mixing bowl and mix until well combined. 

Spread potatoes on a lined baking sheet in an even layer. 

Bake for 20-30 minutes, or until golden brown. 

Serve immediately and enjoy!
